B"sd Sharon's Folly
Gary Cooperberg June 28, 2004
Looking at recent news reports which indicate that the President of the
United States has nearly total support of both houses of Congress in his effort
to promote peace in the Middle East by supporting Prime Minister Sharon’s
proposals, it would seem that our Prime Minister has accomplished a tremendous
feat for the security of Israel.
Yet, if we are honest and look a little closer at this picture, we can clearly
see the flaws: First of all, it should be obvious to all that, the
projected goals suppose premises which are absolutely impossible. To
expect terrorists to fight terror is like expecting a fish to learn to live
outside of water.
Secondly, we have absolutely no reason to assume that, even were we to divide
Israel in half and build a new PLO state on Jewish Land, we would be any closer
to peace. On the contrary. We can be certain that this new creation
would only be used as a base from which to seek to destroy what remains of the
Jewish State.
Thirdly, we can see that President Bush, although personally supportive of
Israel, cannot stand up to Arab powers even in his own war against terror.
It was from Saudi Arabia that the bombers of the Twin Towers and the
Pentagon were recruited. What has the USA done in retribution to that Arab
country? How is it possible to include the source of terror in the war
against terror? If the President of the United States is incapable of
waging a complete war against those who attacked the USA, how can Israel think
to depend upon him to help Israel when she is attacked by these same Arab
nations?
Fourthly, If Yasser Arafat, although ostracized, cannot be either eliminated or
brought to trial, even though everyone knows he is an international criminal who
has committed murder even upon representatives of the USA, how can we depend
upon any promises made by a government which cannot even protect its own
interests?
Fifthly, Why can neither the President of the United States nor the Prime
Minister of Israel publicly recognize the reality that there is no such thing as
a “Palestinian” people? What keeps them from openly proclaiming
the truth that this concept was promulgated for the sole purpose of
de-legitimizing and destroying the Jewish State? If this lie can be
forced down both of their throats, then it should be obvious that neither has
the strength to stand up to the source of this lie. As long as there is a
so-called “peace” process which sees the Jewish State bargaining away its
very existence, the so called “war against terror” is a losing proposition.
How quickly we choose to forget that we did not live in blissful peace
prior to 1967 when the Arabs had all of Judea, Samaria, Gaza and East Jerusalem!
Why was the PLO state not declared then?
Any honest observer would shun these lies and demand truth. Any honest Jew
would stop lying to himself and accept his role as defined by Biblical
destiny. We have no right to bargain away Jewish obligations, no
matter what we are promised in return. We do not have a "right"
to the Land of Israel. We do not have a "right" to defend our
nation. We do not have a right to create a new Arab nation on Jewish
soil. We have a holy obligation to live in and develop the Land of
Israel as a Jewish nation. And we have a holy obligation to defend that
nation against all who would seek to weaken her. . . including our own leaders.
I have no doubt that Mr. Sharon and other Jewish leaders really feel that they
have accomplished tremendous positive steps by enlisting support of the
government of the United States. But they are wrong. No matter how
genuinely supportive the USA might be of the Jewish State, if that support is
predicated upon our giving away any part of our homeland, it has absolutely no
value.
If we Jews do not have the courage to be honest, especially concerning our most
basic function to bring peace to all of the nations of the world, then how can
we expect our enemies to cease their efforts to destroy us? And how
can we expect to enlist the support of those who sincerely wish to stand with
Biblical destiny? It is we, the Jewish People, who have the greatest
responsibility to become an example for the nations to follow. Instead we
try to follow falsehood in the futile hope of currying favor with those who seek
our destruction. Peace will only come when the Jewish People recognize our
responsibility to fulfill our G-dly destiny by coming home and rebuilding a
genuine Jewish homeland ruled by Torah. Any continued effort to lessen our
obligations by trying to make the Jewish State into a state like unto the
nations will only increase our suffering. We can and we will bring
genuine peace to the world only when we begin to act like Jews rather than
diplomats.
Project Shofar is dedicated to spreading these truths wherever it is possible to do so. It is sounding the alarm, to Jew and Gentile alike, to open our eyes to the G-dly process that is presently underway, and work to support it. We dare not stand idly on the sidelines.
