Succumbing to National Blackmail
Gary Cooperberg November 28, 2006
Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is truly a sorry character. Could anyone imagine the leader of any normal country reacting to acts of terror upon its citizens by offering the terrorists parts of his country in return for their promise to stop attacking them? Can one imagine a storekeeper offering hoodlums a tenth of his store if only they will promise to stop harassing his customers?
Olmert has forfeited his right to lead this country with his futile attempt to bribe our enemies by offering them some of our homes. Our enemies do not want to live in peace with an Israel of any size. They want to live in peace with no trace of an Israel in what they consider to be Moslem territory.
The sorry fact is that Israel has the capacity to end the terror almost immediately. The first things our leaders need to do is to establish a clear and irrevokable definition of Israel’s present borders. They should include all territories under our control, including all of Gaza. The second imperative is to retroactively proclaim the illegitimacy of a “Palestinian” entity. All those who claim Palestinian identity are to be considered enemies of the state of Israel. A complete and immediate cessation from any kind of recognition of a Palestinian entity must be enforced.
All Arabs in Israel who consider themselves palestinians forfeit their right to live here. Those Arabs who renounce palestinian identity may live here as resident aliens as long as they obey our laws completely. No Arab should be permitted to run for office much less serve as a member of Knesset.
Our leaders have firmly planted the seeds of Arab revolution within our homeland. They may have thought that they were winning the affection of these Arabs. Today it is clearer than ever that those seeds are bearing bitter fruit. The Arabs of Israel today are proud to call themselves “palestinians”. They are convinced by our actions that they will eventually succeed in changing Jewish Israel into Arab Palestine. It is the Jewish leadership which has created this false hope and has clearly encouraged Arab revolution.
As our present leadership continues to placate our enemies rather than vanquish them, we are seeing our enemies increase in quality and quantity, slowly attempting to destroy the Jewish State both from within and without. And all our leaders can think to do is to “negotiate” our very existence! This is fulfillment of an inadvertent prophesy made by Prime Minister Menachem Begin. When asked by a reporter if he is willing to negotiate with his enemies he responded with the question, “What am I to negotiate, the terms of my self destruction?” Yet this is precisely what our present Prime Minister is attempting to do. We have nothing to negotiate. Those who seek to uproot the Jewish State must themselves be uprooted. Until this concept becomes Israeli policy we will suffer needlessly and continue to be terrorized.
