Not Even Sharon Can Make Peace by Giving Away Jewish Land

Gary Cooperberg
April 14, 2004

Ariel Sharon, in typical expert diplomatic fashion, recently declared that Kiryat Arba and Hebron will never be included on his list of Jewish lands to give away to our enemies. By so stating he assumed that he would mitigate the opposition to his "Peace" efforts. I am sure that he really believes that, in order to save Israel, he must sacrifice parts of it. Yet this is the logic which motivates those who have been seeking to give away parts of our homeland to our enemies ever since 1967, and which inspired the infamous Oslo tragedy.

If Israel is just another country then its likelihood for continued existence is extremely limited. Logically, considering her small size and large number of enemies, her only hope for continued existence lies with currying favor with the super power, America. This hapless belief has been the basis for our governments policies for almost as long as we have been in existence as a state. Yet, in fact, we have grown stronger in spite of our efforts to self-destruct.

While, I am sure that our prime minister really believes he is serving his country by playing "let's make a deal" with our homeland, in truth he is bringing great harm to his people. The Jewish State is destined to continue to grow and to eventually become the model of existence for all nations. Nothing can prevent this from happening. Every time a Jewish leader suggests that we must back down to our enemies by giving away any part of our homeland, he invokes Divine Wrath which brings terror upon our heads. It is a terrible humiliation to our G-d for us to voluntarily seek to give away even one grain of sand on the Gaza beach. And every time we humiliate our G-d we pay a heavy price. Yet, in spite of the terror and in spite of the pain we suffer, no power on Earth can alter the destiny of the Jewish people. If our leaders would only understand this fact we could all avoid a tremendous amount of needless suffering.

Sharon succeeded in isolating Arafat and got the President of the United States to recognize that once welcome guest of the White House as the terrorist he really is. Why could he not continue upon that path to its logical conclusion? Arafat is certainly a terrorist leader. But, by definition, all those who follow him are also terrorists. As a master politician and warrior, Mr. Sharon could easily have accepted the role which was handed to him by the people of Israel to destroy our enemies once and for all. Rather than accept terrorism and reward it by declaring his intention to create a new state on Jewish soil for the terrorists, he could easily have simply destroyed our enemies and set the stage for a glorious redemption, showing the USA and the world how to deal with terror. Instead he has only succeeded in encouraging our enemies to continue their efforts to destroy us.

We are living in difficult times as the redemption rapidly approaches. We have two options. We can work with the Divine Process or we can oppose it. To ignore it is also to oppose it. No matter what we do, nothing can stop it. The entire world is affected by this simple fact as terrorism threatens every nation in the world today. The only genuine way to fight terrorism is to turn to the Creator of the Universe and seek to serve Him. The Jewish State is His Creation which is destined to eventually become a model for all of Mankind. Those who seek to harm her only bring harm upon themselves. The Land of Israel is the only country in the world whose future is guaranteed by G-d. So if the USA is to survive as a nation, her only hope is to stand with Israel as a Biblical concept, not a political one. George Bush's vision of two states is no dream. . . it is a nightmare. The people of the USA would do well to influence their leadership to find a better vision by consulting the Bible.

Project Shofar is sounding the alarm, to Jew and Gentile alike, to open our eyes to the reality of the beginning of Biblical Redemption. The State of Israel, despite being run by myopic leaders who have no idea of the greatness they could truly wield, is the living hope for all of Mankind. Were we to recognize this fact everyone would be seeking to enhance that state rather than to harm it. It is in everyone's interest to stand with the G-dly process rather than invite tragedy by trying futilely to oppose it.

Project Shofar is dedicated to spreading these truths wherever it is possible to do so. It is sounding the alarm, to Jew and Gentile alike, to open our eyes to the G-dly process that is presently underway, and work to support it. We dare not stand idly on the sidelines.
