The Ostrich Syndrome
Gary Cooperberg
August 26, 2002

It is nothing less than astounding to see the absolutely outrageous attempts at self delusion our leadership is making to convince themselves that we should still attempt to make peace with our Arab enemies. We have eyes to see, yet we close them. We have ears to hear, yet we refuse to listen. Innocent civilians have been murdered by the hundreds by human bombs who have elevated murder to an act of worship. Rather than completely destroy those who seek our destruction, we continue with the mad obsession that we have no other choice but to find a way to live with those who refuse to live with us. The only reason the number of bombings and other attacks have been so greatly reduced is because the IDF veritably dismantled the PLO and killed most of its activist leadership. Arafat and his cohorts deserve no credit for curbing terror.

Now we hear about an entire Israeli Arab family which cooperated in blowing up a bus, murdering many of its occupants in the beginning of this month near Megiddo. Just last Saturday a thirty-five year old Arab widowed mother of seven children was murdered in Tulkarem by the PLO on suspicion of being an informant to Israel! Wait a minute. Isn't the PLO committed to trying to prevent terror? Even if this woman was an informant, and told Israeli authorities information about a wanted terrorist, isn't that something that the PLO should be doing as well? Does it take a genius to realize that if the PLO is murdering its own people whom they suspect of helping Israel to fight terror, that the PLO is promoting terror? And, if it is clear that this is the case, how can anyone justify continuing to talk with such people, much less give them control over any Jewish land?

I believe in a different "Gaza First" plan. First we should move all of our Arab population to Gaza, and then we can deport them elsewhere, outside of Israel. Unless we are prepared to move our enemies out of our homeland altogether, we are doomed to suffer more acts of terror. It is virtually impossible for any army to prevent suicide murderers from continuing to murder our population unless we remove all of the Arabs out of our homeland. In spite of the fact that there are among these Arabs those who sincerely do not seek to harm Israelis, the security of the nation requires that we not discriminate since there is no way to know who the next suicide murderer may be. It is the Arabs themselves who created this situation and who are responsible for taking the choice away from us. If Moslem youngsters consider it a religious duty to murder Jews by blowing themselves up as human bombs, we cannot afford to guess which Arabs will and which will not come to murder us. They all must be removed before more Jews get murdered. The Ostrich has its own peace plan. When danger approaches it buries its head in the sand and chooses not to accept reality. This is exactly how the Israeli government is behaving. Pretending that speaking and negotiating with the PLO will bring peace fools no one but ourselves.
