Netanyahu Unmasked
Gary Cooperberg
January 13, 2002

In a recent editorial by the former Prime Minister of Israel we find more of his smooth words. But among them we can see the emptiness of his ideology. This man was seen as a redeemer of Israel. He was elected miraculously and his electorate was expecting genuine leadership by a man of strength and character. Instead we found a man devoid of ideology who, rather than ending the Oslo tragedy, endorsed it and made it "pure". This expert on terrorism shook Arafat's hands warmly and gave him the hills overlooking the Jewish community of Hebron which enabled his murderers to shoot at our children with impunity.

Today Mr. Netanyahu is campaigning all over the world for re-election.

Things are so bad right now in Israel that his deceitful promises are again wooing desperate people who want better. We would do well to remember how much we looked toward this man before he was elected.

And, even more important, we would do well to remember just how much he disappointed us. He endorsed Oslo; he gave away Hebron; he continued to negotiate with Arafat, knowing full well his true intentions; he destroyed his own Likud party; and he offered no serious plan for the future of our homeland.

Listen to him in his own words as he seeks a second chance to lead the Jewish State:

". . .all of us must finally come to the realization that we will not be able to come to any agreement with Arafat. His promises and his signature are equally worthless. Everything he says and does is designed to deceive us. As the head of the PLO, his only goal is to bring us to a point where the Arab world can destroy us. Therefore, our only option is to dismantle his regime and to crush the terrorist infrastructure over which he presides. Only then will a potential successor understand that a heavy price would be paid for waging a war of terror against Israel, and that any plan to destroy us would be defeated. Perhaps then, a real path toward peace and reconciliation would be opened between Israel and those Arabs who - for the time being - still hope to annihilate us."

How interesting. In other words only now Mr. Netanyahu has come to the realization that Arafat is a liar who seeks our destruction. Too bad he didn't come to this conclusion while he was still Prime Minister. But take a look at his solution. He actually thinks that if we destroy Arafat that we will find another Arab leader who, although he presently hopes to destroy us, "would eventually open a real path toward peace and reconciliation." because he would be afraid of the heavy price to be paid for waging war with Israel.

Reconciliation? How can any honest observer think for one minute that any self-respecting Arab leader would agree to compromise his religious principles because he was afraid of the heavy military price? Has Mr.

Netanyahu not noticed how many of these fellows deliberately commit suicide just to murder Jews? Can our expert on terrorism not understand the clear axiom that the only way to stop terror is to destroy it. We will never get an honest, self-respecting Moslem to compromise on his religious beliefs, which includes the mandate to destroy Israel. The reason Mr. Netanyahu and others like him really think that we can negotiate with such people is because he is willing to compromise on Jewish principles. Because he thinks that democracy is a higher value than Judaism, he also thinks that Arabs should be able to put aside their religious beliefs for democratic values. He simply cannot understand the concept that the belief in G-d is one that cannot accept compromise. Either you believe, or you do not. And if you choose to not believe in the True Living G-d of Creation, that in no way means that your enemies will agree to give up their belief in their false god. This is the crux of our problem today. When we find a real Jewish leader who bends his will to that of our Creator, only then will we find real peace. Our G-d does not want us to negotiate our homeland with any entity, certainly not with a non-entity bent on our destruction. That even now Netanyahu is still looking to negotiate our homeland with different murderers whom he assumes will somehow change their mind about murdering us because they will be afraid of going to war is simply ridiculous. It is good reason to oppose his running for office in this country ever again.
