Hello? Is Anyone There?
Gary Cooperberg

Knesset Speaker, Avrum Burg, is planning to visit the PLO in Ramallah. Defense Minister Ben Eliezer is pleased to announce that Mubarak told him that he will try to convince Arafat to fight terror. Prime minister Sharon demands that Arafat arrest the murderers of Rahabam Zeevi, H"yd, before he will permit him to leave Ramallah. And, President Bush has expressed disappointment that Arafat has not taken serious steps to combat terror.

Are all of these high level public servants living on the same planet as we are? How can any one of them as much as consider a continuation of dialogue with those whose intentions to destroy the Jewish State cannot be denied? Could one imagine an effort in the thirties to meet with Hitler in an attempt to reconcile our differences, even as he continued to murder our people? One does not negotiate with murderers. . . he simply destroys them. The only sane path for a responsible Jewish leadership is to destroy Arafat and the PLO and throw them and their followers out of our homeland.

Of course war is terrible and peace is wonderful. But, unfortunately, history has taught us that the only way to have peace is to win wars. It is not nice, but that is just the way it is. We can always avoid a war by choosing to surrender. But when one surrenders to murderers he is likely to be murdered. This is simple logic. How then can any rational leader presume to surrender to the PLO? Giving them a foothold in the Jewish State was an act of surrender. It may not have been intended as such from the outset, but that certainly is the case now. Why does our prime minister feel obligated to continue the defacto surrender of Jewish Land to the PLO? Even today they are shooting at our civilians with guns given to them by Israel. They are bombing us in the streets of Jerusalem and Tel Aviv using human bombs. And our leadership wants to make peace with such people!

The answer is not to build a wall around Jerusalem. The answer is to remove the potential human bombs from our homeland. There is no other way. Why must we insist upon living with terror? The Arabs are giving their very lives to murder Jews. What is there to negotiate? Either we destroy our enemies or they will continue to try to destroy us. It is only a matter of time, and bloodshed, G-d forbid, before everyone understands this fact. It is incredible that we cannot understand it now and stop the needless bloodshed.

We need to have faith in G-d and certainly be prepared to continue to live our lives in our homeland. But we must use that same faith to have the courage to wage war against those who come to destroy us. It is an abomination to come to terms with terror. We have no obligation to live with terror. On the contrary, we have an obligation to obliterate it from our midst. To do less is be a party to our self-destruction. Why do our leaders refuse to understand this?

Project Shofar is dedicated to spreading these truths wherever it is possible to do so. It is sounding the alarm, to Jew and Gentile alike, to open our eyes to the G-dly process that is presently underway, and work to support it. We dare not stand idly on the sidelines.
