The Dog returneth to its Vomit or Shimon Peres Rides again
Gary Cooperberg May 20, 2002
Shimon Peres, the self-proclaimed prince of peace, who established an international Center for Peace which he humbly named after himself, is back to his old tricks. This fellow is determined to bring peace to the world even if he ends up destroying the Jewish State in the process. Mr. Peres correctly understands that wars are fought over conflicting ideologies. As such he has come to the conclusion that we can end wars for all time if only we can abandon our ideologies. Instinctively knowing that the function of the Jewish People is to become an example for the nations, he has decided to set the example by abandoning Jewish ideology for peace. His problem is that he cannot seem to understand why no other people are willing to follow his example. If only the Arab nations would be willing to abandon Islamic ideology the same way Peres has abandoned Judaism, then we truly could have peace.
Peres' unique creative talents were demonstrated at Oslo where he secretly met with the PLO. If only he could convince the very symbol of the enemies of the Jewish people and Jewish State, Yassir Arafat, to listen to reason, perhaps we could yet make peace with our enemies. Arafat was at the lowest ebb of his career as a terrorist leader. Peres reasoned that by giving Arafat prestige, status and responsibility, he would change his ways and truly become a partner in peace, thus paving the way for our Arab neighbors to accept the Jewish State and live in peace with us.
Shimon was no fool. He would not simply hand over land carte blanche to terrorists. He would first make them prove that they were able to live with us in peace. He was willing to take a chance by providing the PLO with areas in Israel where they would be permitted to govern themselves, and would even permit the establishment of an armed police force to maintain law and order among their own people. This experiment was called "Gaza and Jericho First". We must remember that this was just an experiment to test whether or not Arafat could rule over his own people in peace. If the experiment worked, then Peres would allow further development of the idea by permitting Arab self rule in other areas as well. This was not an offer of independence or sovereignty, only an opportunity for Arabs to live in parts of Israel and to rule over themselves there without Israeli interference in their lives.
Arafat did not agree. To him "Gaza and Jericho First" were but the appetizers on a menu which included all of the Jewish State. He was more than willing to allow Peres the Peace Maker to give him Israel in pieces. One piece at a time was more than generous. If Peres would give, Arafat would be happy to take. And take he did. When he came into Gaza and Jericho he came in as a conquering army in military vehicles and guns blazing into the air. When they got to the military compounds they tore down the Israeli flag and replaced it with a PLO flag. At that moment the experiment clearly failed. Arafat committed an act of war, defacto declaring sovereignty over Jewish soil. Once that PLO flag was hoisted, the IDF had a mandate to remove the PLO from Israel and restore our sovereignty. Instead, our indefatigable Mr. "Peace" decided to salute the PLO flag! "Let them have their dreams", was his smug response to Arafat spitting in his face. Their dream is to destroy the Jewish State, and Peres has decided to let them have their dream! Today both the Jewish State and world powers recognize those areas in Israel illegally occupied by the PLO as sacrosanct sovereign territories belonging to the PLO!!!
Not by any kind of law, nor by any stretch of the imagination does Arafat and his PLO have the right to one grain of sand on the Gaza beach. Any normal Israeli government simply would have thrown them out of our country the minute that flag was raised. Instead these acts of war were ignored. Literal acts of war against our civilians who have been murdered with weapons given to them by our own government have been "overlooked" as Jewish government after Jewish government continues to try to make peace with those who are still murdering us and declaring their goal to take our homeland from us. And if this is not lunacy enough, once again our "Prince of the Peres Peace Center" is coming to the rescue with yet a new innovative idea to promote peace.
Totally ignoring the miserable failure of Oslo and the hundreds of needless murders resulting from that fatal error, Peres now has decided that the best way to make peace is to give Arafat a sovereign PLO state on Jewish soil! No need to fight a war. We will avoid that unnecessary and unpleasant occupation by simply surrendering to Arafat. Perhaps this way he will express his gratitude and stop murdering our children.
In 1929 there was no Jewish State, yet Arabs attacked and murdered Jews. In 1936 again we were murdered even though there was no Jewish State. In 1948 we were attacked and murdered even though all of Judea, Samaria, Gaza, and most of Jerusalem were in Arab hands. In 1967 we were attacked by our Arab neighbors, yet they still possessed those same lands. By what stretch of the imagination then does Mr. Piece dare to presume that by giving Arafat a sovereign state in Judea, Samaria, Gaza, and Jerusalem that suddenly we will have peace? This is pure nonsense based upon nothing but the fantasies of Shimon the Great.
Quite on the contrary, by permitting our enemies to entrench themselves upon our holy soil we are guaranteeing further bloodshed and hastening the biggest war this country has ever seen. Those who, like Mr. Peres, declare that they will make peace by giving away parts of our homeland are not only wrong, but are themselves responsible for the needless murder of countless Jews and Arabs that will result from the war that is destined to follow this folly. The only way to save lives and achieve anything even resembling true peace is to demonstrate self-respect. Only by removing our enemies from our homeland and establishing unquestioned Jewish sovereignty over all of the lands under our control will we convince our enemies that we are prepared to fight for what belongs to us. Only when we clearly demonstrate our resolve to fight for our homeland will our enemies refrain from attacking us and can war be averted.
