"Mad Arab Disease"
Gary Cooperberg
November 12, 2002

It would be wonderful were we living in a perfect world. Unfortunately we are not. Israel is the only hope for the future of Mankind. It is the destiny of the Jewish State and the Jewish People to elevate all of Mankind to holiness and bring the kind of perfection to this world for which we all yearn. The problem is that too many of us are forgetting that this will be accomplished by a Divine formula, not by negotiating and attempting to abrogate our responsibilities.

War and bloodshed are horrible. They should be avoided. . . but not at all costs. Because we are living in a world where evil exists, we must be prepared to fight evil at all costs, even if that requires war and bloodshed. When our enemies murder our children, it is neither noble nor moral for us to reject our obligation to destroy our enemies in the name of "peace". On the contrary. Such a stance not only will never bring peace, but will only further encourage our enemies to continue to murder us.

Everyone remembers the panic caused throughout Europe a short while ago with the spread of Mad Cow disease. Meat was banned from supermarkets and whole herds of cattle were just destroyed in order to curb the spread of this contagious disease. Tremendous amounts of money were lost, and healthy cattle were destroyed along with diseased cattle just to be extra certain that the disease would not spread. Although animal lovers might have objected to the unnecessary killing of healthy animals, clearly the health of humans outweighed that unfortunate need.

Today, in Israel and elsewhere, there is another outbreak of a plague which is taking many innocent lives. I suppose you could call it "Mad Arab Disease". An ever-increasing number of Arabs are deliberately sacrificing their lives to murder innocent civilians. There is no way to know which Arab will wake up tomorrow morning and decide to either become a human bomb in a market place, or take a final airplane ride in a jumbo jet.

I do not hate Arabs. I know that there are many who would be happy to lead peaceful and productive lives in Israel under full Israeli rule. I certainly do not wish harm to such people. The State of Israel has always chosen to take every risk to her own existence rather than impose hardships upon her Arab citizens. We have given peace more than just a chance, we have practically destroyed ourselves in the attempt to placate our enemies. We can no longer afford the luxury of futilely hoping for even a coexistence that can never be achieved. We know for certain that our enemies will stop at nothing to destroy us. To pretend otherwise while our children are being murdered in their homes is criminal.

Arabs are not cattle. We must treat them with dignity. But, for the sake of our homeland and the sake of Jewish lives we dare not continue to endure the war of attrition in which we are currently engaged. It is unfortunate, but we have no choice but to take steps which may also affect Arabs who are not terrorists. A clear price must be exacted which will both discourage terror and eliminate it. It should be immediately announced that any Arab that even plans an attack against Jews will find the entire population of his town expelled from Israel, and that town repopulated by Jews. Jenin would be a good place to start. The IDF can do what Rabin did when he bused Arab terrorists to Lebanon. Only this time we can just leave them there. No one is forcing anyone to murder Jews. But we must demonstrate that the price for doing so is a dear one.

It is high time that we just act as we need to in order to save Jewish lives and the future of our country. We have always been condemned for our actions. For once let us act in spite of the condemnations. In the end all will understand that Israel will not role over and die for anyone.
