Another Missed Opportunity

Gary Cooperberg
September 3, 2003

Former UN representative from Israel, Abba Eban, coined the expression, "The Arabs never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity." What Eban and his ilk never really understood is the fact that the Arabs have no interest in making peace with Israel. The only reason that they even bother to go through the motions is because of two factors. One, they have discovered, the hard way, that they cannot defeat Israel militarily. And, two, they have discovered that by giving lip service to the word "peace", they can gain both territorial and military advantages over the Jewish State.

Both Egypt and Jordan have signed "peace treaties" with Israel and, as a result, have gained tremendous financial support from the USA, and territorial concessions from Israel. Make no mistake, both countries are still enemies of the Jewish State. Oslo was not a treaty. It was a political fraud whereby its Jewish authors deluded themselves that they were making peace while the PLO gained tremendous territorial and military advantages and actually implemented them to murder Jews even during this alleged peace plan. It was and continues to be total lunacy. It has re-labeled the term "surrender" and called it "peace", even as we watch our civilians being murdered on buses and shopping malls.

When, after accepting the Road Map and the alleged change in leadership of the PLO, we still ended up getting our civilian population murdered, our leaders refused to stop the sham and just wipe out our enemies. Instead they employed "targeted assassinations" which knocked out a handful of terrorists but only inspired hundreds or thousands more to take their places.

Today it was announced that Yasser, the "insignificant", Arafat, has declared the Road Map to be dead! Now this is an opportunity which the Israeli government has failed to cash in on. For all intents and purposes this declaration is a license for Israel to destroy her enemies! If the Road Map is dead and if the PLO and all her terrorist cohorts openly admit that there is no more "hudna", then what are we waiting for? Were Sharon a true Jewish leader he would immediately destroy the PLO completely and throw them out of our country as well as quash any opposition with an iron fist. To do less is cowardly, irresponsible, and will only guarantee more murder and mayhem in our country.

For those who haven't noticed, this country has been at war from even before it was declared a country. There is no peace and there is no peace process. For us to pretend to be making peace while our enemies continue to wage war is a recipe for disaster which we are already reaping. The only way to achieve peace is to first win the war. We have no plans to do so and thus we are responsible for the continuation of "terror", which can be stopped militarily despite remarks by politicians to the contrary.

Project Shofar is dedicated to spreading these truths wherever it is possible to do so. It is sounding the alarm, to Jew and Gentile alike, to open our eyes to the G-dly process that is presently underway, and work to support it. We dare not stand idly on the sidelines.
